ARIT VRU Receives LESS Recognition
🌿♻️ Turning “Waste” into “Opportunities for Learning and Sustainability”
The recognized activities include “ARIT Recycling Waste Separation 2024” and “DIY by ARIT: Creative Ideas to Transform Waste into Useful Items (Milk Cartons / UHT Cartons) 2024.” These initiatives created a learning space where students, staff, and library users could actively participate in proper waste separation while discovering creative ways to transform used materials into practical items for everyday life through workshops and creative activity corners within the library 🧃✂️🎨.
Throughout the implementation of these activities, they not only helped reduce the amount of waste requiring disposal, but also contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 1.44 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) 🌏💚. This achievement represents an important step toward environmental stewardship and fostering eco-friendly habits in daily life.
This accomplishment also reflects the role of the library as a lifelong learning space 📚✨ that provides opportunities for users to gain both academic knowledge and practical life skills for sustainable living. The activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education and Lifelong Learning (SDG 4), by encouraging hands-on learning about environmental responsibility in everyday contexts.
At the same time, waste separation and the creative reuse of materials promote the concept of Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) by reducing waste and minimizing environmental impacts 🌱. These efforts also contribute to addressing Climate Action (SDG 13) through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions generated from daily activities.
Importantly, this success was made possible through collaboration and partnerships among university units and external networks 🤝, reflecting the collective effort to advance sustainable development in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
The Academic Resource and Information Technology Center will continue to develop and promote activities that integrate learning with environmental responsibility, contributing to the university’s vision of becoming a Green University 🌳 and fostering a learning community that grows together with a sustainable future for our planet 🌍💚✨.
